Evangelical Lutheran Church:Sanctuary Church Body
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which represents nearly 3.5 million Christians, voted Wednesday to become the country's first "sanctuary church body," according to church officials.https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/08/us/lutheran-sanctuary-church/index.html?utm_term=link&utm_source=fbCNN&utm_medium=social&utm_content=2019-08-09T00%3A29%3A02&fbclid=IwAR3A_QtWYRYPCGJyhk7Fz0_eZ5RELU5s0ZaRVmqZv3x2GtXiTLL0jNbXXmg

Is Smoking Weed a Spiritual Practice?
Cannabis can be tricky to work with spiritually. For many, even most of us, there’s a learning curve in finding out how to most skillfully benefit from the cannabis plant as a spiritual ally. A number of factors can influence the short- and long-term spiritual effects of cannabis—dosage, strain, frequency of use, attitude toward the plant, one’s state of mind and body at the time of the encounter, the specific setting, and, maybe most important, the ability to quiet the discursive mind and allow periods of inner stillness, as in marijuana meditation.https://www.consciouslifestylemag.com/cannabis-spiritual-meditation/

The Rewards of Integrity
I want to talk to you today about The Rewards of Integrity. There's a lot of compromise in our society, people that think nothing about being dishonest, making underhanded deals, not keeping their word. They wonder why they can't get ahead, it's because they don't have integrity. Integrity is the foundation that a successful life is built on. You can have talent, vision, determination, but without integrity you won't reach your highest potential. And a person of integrity does the right thing, when no one is watching. They don't play it on the computer, because the boss stepped away, they don't lead people out of a commission, because they didn't know about the sale, they don't cut corners at the job site, because nobody will find out about it. They give it their best whether anyone is there or not.https://sermons.love/joel-osteen/3776-joel-osteen-the-rewards-of-integrity.html

Be Mindful of the Words You Speak
esus said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). When you get the Word of God in your mouth, you create a strong, spiritual life that will send you on the course to life. Your words will direct you beside still waters and take you to green pastures. They’ll lead you to refreshment for your soul. Let’s be very attentive to the words that we speak. Let’s remember our words are containers of power that can direct our course. We can prophesy our future.https://www.iheart.com/podcast/585-joel-osteen-podcast-28292517/episode/be-mindful-of-the-words-you-29239653/

This Church Turns heads with its street signs
(CNN)Like thousands of pastors, Rev. Adam Ericksen strides out on the church lawn each week to post a message on a marquee sign next to the street. But his are a little more eye-catching than most. This morning he decried white supremacy, advocating for Harriet Tubman's place on the $20 bill. Last week, as "heartbeat" abortion bills were becoming law in more and more states, he reminded churchgoers and those driving by that transgender people have heartbeats too. Ericksen said he took the reins about a year and a half ago at Clackamas United Church of Christ in Milwaukie, Oregon, just outside of Portland. At the time, the church had about 30 reliable attendees each Sunday, he told CNN.https://edition.cnn.com/2019/05/28/us/oregon-church-progressive-signs-trnd/index.html?utm_term=link&utm_source=fbCNNi&utm_content=2019-06-02T04%3A30%3A05&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR1aOMEv3VMPTRqJkjRSewyBwJgFWV7X2sOeEJ_UHp8g5ohoKOceCIYzIqU

A Crash Course on Spirituality
These days, many religious minds hear the spiritual call. Maybe it is our fast-changing society that leaves people with little to hold on to. Maybe it is the dawn of the Aquarian Age. Maybe because religion is too old school. Hence the need for a crash course. The spiritual landscape is fragmented, obscure, sometimes weird. Modern people need something concise. Hence, the need for a comprehensive course. Most spiritual scriptures are ancient. At that time, people thought differently, felt differently, and they used language differently. It’s high time for some modernization. Hence, a modern crash course. https://www.stefanemunds.com/book/a-modern-crash-course-in-spirituality/

Power Of Conscious Awareness
In its essence, consciousness is a subtle energy field of pure potentiality where there is infinite possibility and creativity. Within consciousness, lies an informational field of feedback and awareness that gives us a sense of self. In other words, consciousness gives us the ability to observe, experience and be aware of our existence. Besides being an informational field, consciousness is also a unified field of function that expresses outward with diversity. This unified field is everywhere and in everything. That is why consciousness is one of the fundamental forces of Creation. Think of it as the intelligent energy that governs everything in the Universe and you won’t be far off. As it is made of subtle energy — the most powerful energy in the Universe — consciousness is extremely powerful. That is why nuclear weapons are so powerful since they utilized the subtle energies within atoms. https://theconsciouslife.com/power-of-consciousness.htm

Church preaches acceptance but remains homophobic
Regardless of deity, branch or creed, religion generally has one golden rule: treat others as one wishes to be treated. This principle gives religious adherents a law to live their lives by in order to avoid conflict and/or harming others. In Christianity, most denominations consider this rule to be one of the central tenets of the religion. Unfortunately, when it comes to the LGBTQ community, it hasn’t always been this way, even when individuals identifying as LGBTQ want to become a part of a religious community and have a relationship with God. This alienation has caused much pain for the LGBTQ community, who may have a hard time coming out to their religious family members because of how both religious and lay people treat or perceive them. http://panthernow.com/2018/04/11/fighting-homophobia-within-church-christian-duty/

Believers must stop being so judgmental
The church is a building that people enter seeking peace, forgiveness, and a non judgment area. But Christians are labeled as one of the most judgmental groups, and even as a Christian, I can't argue against that statement. Seriously, I think making judgments is something that we all struggle with. Is it wrong? Of course. But it's human nature. To others practicing different religions, we may act like Christianity is superior to all of the other belief systems. And if they don't believe in anything at all, we may make judgments or assumptions or put labels on them. We judge the way people walk, talk, eat their food, wear their clothes, etc. We are so picky about who we hang out with because we don't want to be associated with “such a sinner.” Let's not forget that we're all sinners. A sin is a sin is a sin in God's eyes. If none of us deserve grace, then who are we to judge? (Romans 8:23 - For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God). https://www.theodysseyonline.com/christians-please-stop-being-judgmental
