Employees Are Woking to the Point of Collapse
Without paid sick leave, American employees are working to the point of collapse. More than 34 million U.S. workers don’t get paid sick days, including nearly two out of three part-time and low-wage workers. “I was going back and forth to the bathroom, puking my guts out,” a Freeport Texas employee stated in a KPRC 2 Houston news report. “I was sweating, I was drenched in sweat, I felt weak.” In Ohio, nurse Theresa Puckett was fired for missing work when she had the flu. “I mean the whole nine yards just to like patch myself up enough to go to work,” she said. “The first decision that you make when you wake up is am I safe enough to report to duty today?”.https://nowthisnews.com/videos/news/without-paid-sick-leave-american-employees-are-collapsing-at-work
The Taco Cleanse Is a Real Diet
When 2016 arrived, the internet exploded with tweets, Instagrams, and news stories about the taco cleanse, heralding it as the year's latest and greatest diet. Obviously this sounded absurd—detox with tacos? No way that's possible. But according to the authors of The Taco Cleanse, the tortilla-based diet is "proven to change your life." It's a quirky concept that's gained so much popularity in the last year—even stars like Jennifer Aniston are backing it.
Exiled due to menstruation, mum and kids die
A Nepali mother and her two children were found dead Wednesday morning, after being exiled from their family home as part of a criminalized practice where women and girls are made to sleep alone when menstruating. In sub-zero winter temperatures, Amba Bohora, 35, and her sons aged seven and nine, are believed to have constructed a small fire inside a tiny wooden hut close to their home in rural western Nepal. By the morning all three were dead.https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/10/health/menstrual-hut-death-nepal-intl/index.html?utm_medium=social&utm_term=link&utm_content=2019-01-10T12%3A32%3A04&utm_source=fbCNNi
How do you achieve more by doing less?
There’s a misconception that working in an office means combing through endless emails while clutching the phone in one hand and scribbling notes in the other. There are better, more productive ways for people to spend their work day. https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/277649
