I love politics because it challenges me. For me, being involved in politics isn't about having an opinion about every issue. It is about learning both sides of each issue and being fascinated by them

Church preaches acceptance but remains homophobic
Regardless of deity, branch or creed, religion generally has one golden rule: treat others as one wishes to be treated. This principle gives religious adherents a law to live their lives by in order to avoid conflict and/or harming others. In Christianity, most denominations consider this rule to be one of the central tenets of the religion. Unfortunately, when it comes to the LGBTQ community, it hasn’t always been this way, even when individuals identifying as LGBTQ want to become a part of a religious community and have a relationship with God. This alienation has caused much pain for the LGBTQ community, who may have a hard time coming out to their religious family members because of how both religious and lay people treat or perceive them. http://panthernow.com/2018/04/11/fighting-homophobia-within-church-christian-duty/

Believers must stop being so judgmental
The church is a building that people enter seeking peace, forgiveness, and a non judgment area. But Christians are labeled as one of the most judgmental groups, and even as a Christian, I can't argue against that statement. Seriously, I think making judgments is something that we all struggle with. Is it wrong? Of course. But it's human nature. To others practicing different religions, we may act like Christianity is superior to all of the other belief systems. And if they don't believe in anything at all, we may make judgments or assumptions or put labels on them. We judge the way people walk, talk, eat their food, wear their clothes, etc. We are so picky about who we hang out with because we don't want to be associated with “such a sinner.” Let's not forget that we're all sinners. A sin is a sin is a sin in God's eyes. If none of us deserve grace, then who are we to judge? (Romans 8:23 - For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God). https://www.theodysseyonline.com/christians-please-stop-being-judgmental

Gandhi's celibacy test : sleeping with naked women
The Indian historian Ramachandra Guha has launched the second volume of his two-volume biography of Mohandas K(Mahatma) Gandhi, a magnificent achievement that, in Guha’s words, has taken “30 years of unsystematic interest and 15 years of obsessive foraging”. At a talk last week at the London School of Economics, he was passionate and amusing, and it was uplifting to hear his respect and affection for one of the great moral figures of the last century. The questions from the audience mainly concerned Gandhi’s role in the independence movement and his attempts to heal India’s religious and social divisions. But then – a last question – a young woman wondered about a strange episode in Gandhi’s life that she found “unsettling”. In reply, Guha went further; it had been “inexplicable and indefensible”. Advertisement For several decades after his death, this episode was not widely known. Popular accounts of Gandhi’s life, including Richard Attenborough’s biopic, never mentioned it. The facts are that after his wife, Kasturba, died in 1944, Gandhi began the habit of sharing his bed with naked young women: his personal doctor, Sushila Nayar, and his grandnieces Abha and Manu, who were then in their late teens and about 60 years younger than him. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/oct/01/gandhi-celibacy-test-naked-women?CMP=fb_gu

Starving Yemen children forced to eat leaves
Many Yemeni families reportedly have nothing to eat but leaves as a humanitarian crisis caused by Saudi Arabia's deadly bombing campaign on the impoverished state reaches a critical stage. The Associated Press reported that people in the Aslam district of Yemen's northwestern Hajjah Province rely on leaves from the local vine, known as Halas in Arabic or Arabian Wax Leaf in English, due to worsening hunger. Mothers, the report said, pick the leaves, then wash and boil them into a sour, acidic green paste to stave off starvation.https://www.presstv.com/Detail/2018/09/16/574280/Yemen-Saudi-Arabia-Hajjah

Hurricane Florence: Test for FEMA & Trump
A year after presiding over a sluggish and chaotic response to a devastating storm in Puerto Rico, the Trump administration girded on Wednesday for a test of its ability to do better as Hurricane Florence continued to bear down on the Carolina coast. If responding to the destruction from Hurricane Maria last year in Puerto Rico was especially challenging — it was the third major hurricane of the season, it struck off the United States mainland and the local government was often overwhelmed — Florence presents more manageable logistics for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It is the first big storm of 2018. FEMA and state and local officials have had days to prepare, and the agency has positioned considerable supplies and personnel in the areas most likely to be affected. Two months before the midterm elections, President Trump has put himself front and center in the government’s response, suggesting that the White House will be fully invested in providing the necessary resources. Beyond the threat to lives and property, the storm also poses a formidable political challenge for Mr. Trump, whose public posture has been shaped by his penchant for self-congratulation and relish for lashing out at political rivals https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/12/us/politics/trump-hurricane-florence-fema.html

How to achieve Financial Freedom
"DESCRIPTION - A general desire for ""financial freedom"" is too vague of a goal. What does it mean to you? Write down how much you should have in your bank account, what the lifestyle entails and at what age this should be achieved. The more specific your goals, the higher the likelihood of achieving them. Then, count backwards to the current age and establish financial mileposts at regular intervals. Write it all down neatly, and put the goal sheet at the very beginning of your financial binder. https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/112015/these-10-habits-will-help-you-reach-financial-freedom.asp"
