Trump Raises Tariffs on Chinese Imports
President Donald Trump said he’s raising tariffs further on Chinese imports in response to Beijing’s retaliation earlier in the day, deepening the impasse over the two nations’ trade policies. Duties on $250 billion of imports already in effect will rise to 30% from 25% on Oct. 1, Trump said in a series of tweets Friday after U.S. markets closed. He also said that the remaining $300 billion in Chinese imports will be taxed at 15% instead of 10% starting Sept. 1.https://time.com/5660386/trump-tweets-china-tariff-raises/?xid=time_socialflow_facebook&utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR2cvNlYxO2w7r8tffXmG9UMw_kVQlMppFR5oSAUgacx8QMJnDTCDdloZ5E

The US just raised tariffs on Chinese goods
The United States has escalated its trade war with China, hiking tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese exports hours after trade talks held in Washington failed to produce a breakthrough. Tariffs on the targeted exports increased from 10% to 25% at 12:01 a.m. ET on Friday, prompting a swift rebuke from Beijing. The Chinese government expressed "deep regret over the development" and pledged to take "necessary countermeasures." "We hope the United States will meet us halfway, and work with us to resolve existing issues through cooperation and consultation," China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement. The ministry did not give specifics on how it would respond.https://edition.cnn.com/2019/05/10/business/china-us-tariffs-trade/index.html?utm_content=2019-05-10T10%3A47%3A17&utm_term=link&utm_medium=social&utm_source=fbCNNi&fbclid=IwAR0thWk6LeA8_BT8oBkbzqVdsJ1SLjmtEOxHt7Dd47QjCsA2zWBiU7HfAmk

Au to refuse visas for domestic violence offenders
Visitors to Australia can be refused entry or kicked out if they have been convicted of domestic violence, under a new federal government directive. Immigration Minister David Coleman's decision came into force on Thursday, barring anyone who has committed violence against women or children from the country. "If you've been convicted of a violent crime against women or children, you are not welcome," Mr Coleman said.https://www.sbs.com.au/news/australia-to-refuse-visas-for-domestic-violence-offenders?fbclid=IwAR1sNf3IoONvuNFbEnoTTDL2Wnc_9fh4aGoXOjPAGx_EAgoHkUZWtg01i2Q
