The firm with 900 staff and no office
There's a growing trend for firms to ditch their offices entirely, but is that good or bad for workers? "Talent is evenly distributed but opportunity is often not," says Cate Huston. "Working this way means you can access that talent and also give opportunity." She leads the developer experience team for Automattic, a large multi-national company where every single one of the 930 staff work remotely. The business has no fixed office presence at all.https://www.bbc.com/news/business-48879976?ns_source=facebook&ocid=socialflow_facebook&ns_campaign=bbcnews&ns_mchannel=social&fbclid=IwAR1sywrfdvGKWNAQT7neX3c84Ecsc-LwMOih5YxDBljwho7_y50FFK5U368

Fairer Tech Industry for Women
The World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2019 reveals that we have closed 68% of the gender gap worldwide. The survey predicts that it will take 108 years to achieve overall gender parity and 202 years to achieve full equality in the workplace. Despite the progress being made, however, we simply cannot accept these results as fact. More needs to be done to address gender inequality. This is especially important at a time when our workplaces are on the cusp of changing dramatically due to technological advancement in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain.https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/01/fairer-tech-industry-for-women-gillian-tans?fbclid=IwAR1c2OiPCWCY7SJW-Fa880-q0zGkaoccnYmsajRhYK8ssfJlnRW2K3nMWlk
