Seeing it differently at Norwich Cathedral
A full-size helter-skelter has been constructed inside a cathedral to give visitors a unique view of the building. The 16.7m (55ft) vintage fairground ride took four people two days to build in the nave of Norwich Cathedral.https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-england-49285829/norwich-cathedral-helter-skelter-offers-new-experience?fbclid=IwAR1i7a93jfydpcdAkIaSwTJ5hR7r11mtyNmKXRuU0U_ZW7iLi2SdfENAWgA

DeVos's School Choice Program Enable Corruption...
Yesterday, the former education secretary of Puerto Rico, Julia Keleher, returned to the island to stand trial after being arrested by the FBI on July 10th on fraud charges. Specifically, she and a government official in the insurance sector have been charged with using their government positions and connections to misdirect federal funding and award bloated, fraudulent contracts to their personal connections (several of whom were also arrested on the 10th). Some see this as vindication for the Trump administration, which has cited potential misuse of funds as one of their reasons for repeatedly trying to hold back much-needed funds, most recently funding for food stamps. However, this alleged fraud actually has more to do with policies of reducing public school funding in favor of private and charter schools, a shift made popular by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. https://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherrim/2019/07/17/did-betsy-devoss-school-choice-program-enable-puerto-ricos-corruption-scandal/?utm_source=FACEBOOK&utm_medium=social&utm_term=Valerie%2F&fbclid=IwAR1XXTLBmfln5vXQnpGiwSSBeTl8Nc5EdAKJlxMNR1_zkPsHf_Oc-4VRo5c#2ca7d5295526

Christians claim they're being persecuted...
Christian Churches in Australia are having a tough time. Numbers are down, abuse, hypocrisy and prejudice are rife and, as a result, public opinion of Christianity can tend to be critical rather than embracing. For Christians, this can be hard. After all, in Australia, we have had the monopoly as one of, if not the, key influencers of societal opinion for many years. Issues such as the role of women, gender, sex and sexuality have largely been discussed, even in the secular community, with Christian beliefs as an assumed shared morality for decades. But this is changing. https://www.sbs.com.au/topics/life/culture/article/2019/04/03/christians-claim-theyre-being-persecuted-are-they-real-bullies?fbclid=IwAR0fs8zXfdlyI-UUc3SkngclcI-BZ5il3V2Vw2As74NEEcdhFbIV4KLHmJA

New York ends religious exemptions for Vaccines
Amid an ongoing measles outbreak, New York is requiring schoolchildren to be vaccinated, even if parents have religious objections. Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Thursday that removes nonmedical exemptions from school vaccination requirements. The law goes into effect immediately, his office said. The move, which comes despite opposition from anti-vaccination activists and religious freedom advocates, puts New York alongside other states that do not allow nonmedical exemptions: California, Mississippi, West Virginia and Maine. https://edition.cnn.com/2019/06/13/health/new-york-vaccine-exemption-law-bn/index.html?utm_source=fbCNN&utm_medium=social&utm_content=2019-06-13T23%3A45%3A13&utm_term=link&fbclid=IwAR3zJlK2vbfUZj8xs-TkgVEv3_Fuk9ht0gHzxMZ97-yyornDH8FESJ73fIg

Holiest Shrine in Japan Is Pulled Down And Rebuilt
Shinto is Japan’s indigenous religion, blending formal, elaborate ceremonial practices from the imperial tradition with local, community-based beliefs. Followers of Shintoism worship their ancestors and regard them as the guardians of the family. They also pay their respects to the numerous kami – spirits that inhabit the natural world; there is no overarching doctrine or dogma in Shintoism, instead it focuses on the relationship between plants, animals, people, the elements and the yearly cycles of growth, death and rebirth.https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/04/japans-holiest-shrine-is-pulled-down-and-rebuilt-every-20-years-on-purpose?utm_source=Facebook%20Videos&utm_medium=Facebook%20Videos&utm_campaign=Facebook%20Video%20Blogs&fbclid=IwAR2T8xFoeWgsOafKsvGvWGfvrEi0UOdHr_A78GtDrIOR89rxxhMpZRm7fGU

LGBT Right Group Seeks Pope's Help
A group representing LGBT rights met in a high-level meeting Friday at the Vatican to ask for Pope Francis' support for the decriminalization of homosexuality. Approximately 50 international representatives traveled to Rome to share with the Pope their preliminary research on human rights violations in the Caribbean, where the groups did research on LGBT rights in 10 jurisdictions. The group was met by the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who said he would pass on the information to Pope Francis, according to the Vatican's spokesman. In a statement following the meeting, the group said that they called on the Catholic Church to "work for the decriminalization of homosexuality and for the abolition of all forms of punishment for consented intimate sexual acts between adults."https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/05/world/lgbt-vatican-meeting/index.html?utm_content=2019-04-06T06%3A15%3A04&utm_medium=social&utm_source=fbCNN&utm_term=link&fbclid=IwAR0zvgA39NdcoGihFhKHK7bqFhDjU-J8vIFB726yM1h-Qgr2P1m5hePaHn8
