Living With High-Functioning Depression
For many people, their home is where they can be their worst selves without judgment from the public. For me, it’s a place I can express my true, unpleasant feelings without getting uncomfortable or worried looks. At work and in public, we are often expected to be friendly, courteous and social. As someone who suffers from depression, I find it can be an enormous inner struggle to uphold this facade. And as someone who is currently in therapy and on medication to manage my depression, I find most people don’t realize that I live with a mental illness.https://www.huffpost.com/entry/living-with-high-functioning-depression_n_5c140a50e4b05d7e5d81ea9d?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000063&utm_source=main_fb&utm_campaign=hp_fb_pages&utm_medium=facebook&fbclid=IwAR3Oac_1wSrO6J824fHV2FzslNKF7iHPknSPAj9kmgGQZnQFPWvvXf1BD_g

Can chocolate cure depression?
A recent study published in the journal Depression and Anxiety has attracted widespread media attention. Media reports said eating chocolate, in particular, dark chocolate, was linked to reduced symptoms of depression. Unfortunately, we cannot use this type of evidence to promote eating chocolate as a safeguard against depression, a serious, common and sometimes debilitating mental health condition.https://www.sbs.com.au/news/insight/verdict-delivered-can-chocolate-cure-depression?fbclid=IwAR0mavG59XF4UkpmMBPTBBnAA840itoMOcWIgPKHpasApJKA3856GQ8_dUM

Ancient City of Babylon:Unesco World Heritage Site
The ancient Mesopotamian city of Babylon has been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. Iraq had been lobbying since 1983 for the 4,000-year-old site to be added to the United Nations' prestigious list. The city was famous for its Hanging Gardens, which were among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The site has suffered in recent years - first from the construction of a palace for Saddam Hussein, and later from being used as a base for US troops.https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-48888893?ocid=socialflow_facebook&ns_campaign=bbcnews&ns_mchannel=social&ns_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR1l3uc0GvIionfOi4D7yP83g_S4_dJXtrEd5jT1ZwvtUwsBvtnr6MZ72TQ

Plant-Based Burger Maker Struggles to meet demands
Not since Harold and Kumar went to White Castle has there been such an insatiable hunger for burgers — but not for just any patty. The popularity of the Impossible Burger, a plant-based creation that has created a sizzle, even among circumspect carnivores, has disrupted the supply chain of two major national chains, White Castle and Red Robin.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/15/business/impossible-foods-burger-demand.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur&fbclid=IwAR3a59yZHRYLA_sO1QLv5IPc4YfC0HPINV9BXzsogf9L8sv7t-Ua0Ct2mz0

5 Signs You're in an Unhealthy Relationship
In a talk about understanding and practicing the art of healthy relationships, Katie Hood reveals the five signs you might be in an unhealthy relationship -- with a romantic partner, a friend, a family member -- and shares the things you can do every day to love with respect, kindness and joy. "While love is an instinct and an emotion, the ability to love better is a skill we can all build and improve on over time," she says.https://www.ted.com/talks/katie_hood_the_difference_between_healthy_and_unhealthy_love?language=en&utm_campaign=social&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_content=talk&utm_term=social-science&fbclid=IwAR2bo2tQno9oKOkdTOinyZSgwHLrKKy_J3F1lz2_oMCUZ3U6JGDZDqIbdLI

We Need To Talk About The Orgasm Gap
Women are slowly moving towards parity in the boardroom, but not in the bedroom. Why are straight women having less satisfying sex than men? And what can we do about it? The world is supposed to be improving for women. Incrementally, work is being done to combat sexual harassment, improve maternity-leave, and close the wage gap.https://ideas.ted.com/we-need-to-talk-about-the-orgasm-gap-and-how-to-fix-it/?utm_campaign=social&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_content=ideas-blog&utm_term=global-social%20issues&fbclid=IwAR1Z0RV_GU8xFXF2gzV52tkyJci9WOgYA199r2OwdEryxL0WZkHhKPXBKr4

The Price of Being Single
Bella DePaulo, now in her sixties, has always been single. For some time, she thought the marriage bug would bite her, until she realized it wouldn’t—and she didn’t want it to. DePaulo, who describes herself as “single at heart,” relishes the lifestyle. What she doesn’t love is the prejudice that single people face, from cultural stigma to discrimination at work, in the media and elsewhere. That’s why the Harvard-trained social scientist (now a project scientist at UCSB) has spent nearly two decades researching single life in America, publishing her findings in scholarly journals, in books including Singled Out, and on blogs. She explains why the pervasive negative stereotypes about single people are largely unsubstantiated, while the anecdotal prejudice is real — and so ingrained we often hardly see it.https://ideas.ted.com/the-price-of-being-single/?utm_campaign=social&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_content=ideas-blog&utm_term=humanities&fbclid=IwAR1wGrbz2pcV6T7pRoNTzzGNvSgr-tXU9xmouwRepU8VqaMP7pXlMsgHILU

Ways to Tell if Your Crush is Secretly Into You
Hey there, single people. I know my entries usually talk about marriage, couples, and breakups, but I’m dedicating this entry to you fine folks! It is not uncommon to meet, during stints of “singleness,” a person that gives you butterflies and makes you feel warm and happy inside – a crush. There are some pretty easy ways to tell if your crush likes you: if they flirt with you, if they sit near you, if they make plans with you, etc. But in 2019 many people are keen to the overt signs of romantic desire and may express their interest in using new methods. I’m going to show you five uncommon ways to tell if your crush is into you – and how to differentiate them from a coincidence. If you can catch these behaviors, it may be time to take the leap and ask them out!https://www.luvze.com/ways-to-tell-if-your-crush-is-into-you/
