Expectations vs Reality - Working from Home
The general perception is ‘working from home is a bliss’. But let me tell you, they don’t say the grass is greener on the other side of the fence just like that. Those who do work from home can only tell you what they expected life to be when they took up the “blissful” job vs. what they are actually experiencing.http://viralstories.in/9-expectations-working-home-vs-reality/

J. Epstein Reportedly Kept Money In Offshore Accts
Jeffrey Epstein reportedly held funds in multiple offshore shell companies, a common way to hide substantial assets from the IRS and creditors. This revelation from the Miami Herald comes a day after a judge cited Epstein’s wealth in denying him bail on federal sex trafficking and sex conspiracy charges.https://www.forbes.com/sites/lisettevoytko/2019/07/19/jeffrey-epstein-reportedly-kept-money-in-offshore-accounts/?utm_source=FACEBOOK&utm_medium=social&utm_term=Gordie%2F&fbclid=IwAR3l6AESlgseDwf1O12M9il-MP61BGLtKIhgJo3Jb82WHJsR9MzSf1Vw2n0#71bb28de64ea

America has no law on paid leave for new parents
The president’s Commission on the Status of Women was unequivocal in its recommendation: “Paid maternity leave or comparable insurance benefits should be provided for women workers.” That conclusion was reached in 1963, when John Kennedy was president, but America still has no federal policy in place to guarantee working mothers or fathers paid time off to care for their new babies. It is one of only two countries in the world, along with Papua New Guinea, that have no statutory national policy of paid maternity leave. The average member of the oecd, a club of mostly rich countries, offers new mothers 18 weeks of paid leave.https://www.economist.com/united-states/2019/07/18/america-is-the-only-rich-country-without-a-law-on-paid-leave-for-new-parents?fsrc=scn/fb/te/bl/ed/americaistheonlyrichcountrywithoutalawonpaidleavefornewparentslookingafterbaby&fbclid=IwAR2AVTDDaUoUD5ODSVLQyitN1qi1I7VqJ8x3WV7dhCbNiNxBZKL0TM10a1c

New York ends religious exemptions for Vaccines
Amid an ongoing measles outbreak, New York is requiring schoolchildren to be vaccinated, even if parents have religious objections. Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Thursday that removes nonmedical exemptions from school vaccination requirements. The law goes into effect immediately, his office said. The move, which comes despite opposition from anti-vaccination activists and religious freedom advocates, puts New York alongside other states that do not allow nonmedical exemptions: California, Mississippi, West Virginia and Maine. https://edition.cnn.com/2019/06/13/health/new-york-vaccine-exemption-law-bn/index.html?utm_source=fbCNN&utm_medium=social&utm_content=2019-06-13T23%3A45%3A13&utm_term=link&fbclid=IwAR3zJlK2vbfUZj8xs-TkgVEv3_Fuk9ht0gHzxMZ97-yyornDH8FESJ73fIg

Would you throw a divorce party?
We have ceremonies and rituals to honor nearly all major life passages. We hold a baptism or bris on one side of life, a funeral on the other. We have birthday parties. Graduation dinners. Weddings. But there’s no official rite of passage during divorce. Until now. Increasingly, people are seeking a way to honor their marriage, even as they end it. Some people plan a public ceremony or blow-out bash, hosted alone or with their ex. Others want a private moment. Many people say taking a trip out of town was the act that let them head in a new direction when they returned home.https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/splitopia/201706/should-you-throw-divorce-party

Hawaii Proposes Cigarette Ban
Lawmakers in Hawaii have proposed legislation that would begin phasing out cigarettes in the state, banning them altogether within the next several years. At least, for people younger than 100. The bipartisan bill, H.B. 1509, aims to raise the legal minimum age to use cigarettes to exclude everyone but centenarians by 2024 to “keep people healthy and alive in the Aloha State,” state Rep. Cynthia Thielen (R), one of the sponsors of the bill, said Tuesday afternoon in a phone interview with The Washington Post.https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2019/02/05/younger-than-soon-you-might-not-be-able-smoke-cigarettes-hawaii/?utm_term=.6f698f99c496

Women Born to Rule their Kitchen and their Family
In Nigeria, the idea of gender equality has not really set into the hearts of many people. There are still some who believe that women cannot do most of the things men handle in their day to day activities. Despite the fact that a woman, Oby Ezekwesili, had shown interest in running for president before she dropped out of the race, many Nigerians still believe that a woman does not have what it takes to become president. In an interview with BBC, Nigerians shared their thoughts on what it would be like for a woman to run for presidency or become president.
