Fire ants work together to build complex structures out of their own bodies. Research that reveals the simple rules behind this behaviour could be used to inform robotics.

It makes me so angry that FIRE ANTS of all species have these cool techniques. Why couldn't it have been something cute like sloths?

Wow, all the ant defenders here. PROTIP: Ants are worthless, there are millions of them all exactly the same, they don't have feelings. Big deal.

Everyone complaining and supporting ants, never had problems with ants destroying/ruining something. Ants have a very invasive behavior, with only termites beating them.
