Not necessarily. I believe though that a parent's relationship does affect the child. It doesn't matter if you are still married or not, if you are not at least civil to each other, it affects the child negatively. I see this in my class all the time.

I agree! My parents divorced when I was 10 but they remained good friends and we try to celebrate the holidays together so it was all good.

It does not help the child if the parents are fighting all the time. I have seen news where the parents are divorced but lives right next to each other with their new partner so they can co-parent effectively. Whatever works for your family.

The parents who are divorced or separated should still have a good relationship with their exes for the children. They have to be civil and should get along well.

It depends on the parents. If they're separated but they're still involved in their children's lives then they can guide their kids as they grow up.

I agree. I think it's not a doomed future..

It would be good to have the parents together. The mom and the dad have important roles to play in their child's lives.

It's up to the parents on how committed they are to their kids. Having divorced parents is not the end of the world. My folks have successfully co-parented us when we were kids.

I sincerely hope that If the parent raising the kid can make it to a point of being both mom and dad and can provide the child's needs.. broken home can't be the greatest issue..

I was one of those kids my dad and my mom divorced. After that my mom remarried to a jerk, my dad fell in love with someone else, I found out that he had been cheating. My mom and step-idiot had a son, and I found out my dad had wanted to use abortion on me. Overall it has influenced me in a bad way, I have wanted to kill myself and my family. I was a messed up person, still am. So yes I do believe that when parents are together it is a great thing.

A broken home will cause rifts and broken relationships too.
