Andy Murray hopes to be able to play at Wimbledon but the Australian Open may be his final tournament.

I’m not a Murray fan but can appreciate he’s the best tennis player GB has produced in decades, and to have to admit, so publicly, that his career is over must be heartbreaking for him. Who cares how much money he’s earned. This is his passion and it’s over. I had tears in my eyes watching him speak

I love this dour Scotsman - I think he’s totally misunderstood. He’ll make a good coach.

He has nothing to prove. His body is telling him its time to retire. He's our best player of the modern era. Good luck to him and his family in whatever the future holds.

For all those heartbreaking comments,,I don’t think it’s worthy of that. Yes some things are heartbreaking but I wouldn’t put retiring from tennis in your 30s as one of them. A little self indulgent to say the least. Get over it mate, some people have real problems.

Most people would love to be able to retire at 31 and have no money worries ... Health comes first and he needs to listen to his body , it’s a shame but that’s life and I’m sure he will find a career behind the scenes of tennis

Couldn't have been a better start to 2019! Mr personality of a lettuce and one of the most over rated tennis players ever. I'll sleep soundly now.

Tough to watch him so distraught. For decades I watched tennis never believing a Brit could make it to the top and then Andy Murray came along. Thanks Andy for what you've given us.

I'm not a big fan of the bloke, but it must be devastating for him to find his career over at 31. For all his personality faults, he is an excellent tennis player.

Sad but I guess everyone has a career change and he will most likely coach - not such a bad job in the sport he obviously loves.

So very sad but he shouldn't carry on and inflict some really serious injuries.

This must be devastating for him. He has achieved his titles etc that he has by being so passionate about his love of tennis & never giving up. Very sad for him that his body can no longer do it. Not the way he wanted to go out. Good luck to him. ☺️
