Advocating for women's rights in any and every way that I can

My goal is to advance women’s rights and equality through strategic litigation, advocacy and partnerships. I aim to defend and protect the rights of vulnerable and marginalized women and to promote their access to justice and equitable resources. I seek to advance women’s freedom from violence, improve substantive equality, and advocate for agency in all aspects of their lives ‐ at home, at work, in the community, and in society at large. Furthermore, I am committed to promoting women’s participation in the justice sector. I strongly believe that participation strengthens the agency of women as justice providers and it also strengthens the quality of justice that women receive. When there are women judges, women lawyers, and women court officials, women who seek justice themselves feel empowered and much more comfortable. At the same time, women justice professionals can also understand the experiences of women better.

Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, yet this absurd ban continues to turn away millions of potential donors.

It's medical reasons behind it not bigotry. I have tattoos and I'm banned from donating. If you have lived in certain regions of the world you can be barred from donating.

Omg. I'm forbidding from donating now because after donating 35 units was found I have a genetic disorder that produces high iron. Wow, such hypocrisy. The issue as I see it, is red cross won't get"blood" money. Crap if you were anemic would you want my blood?

In the 80’s It was too expensive, according to Reagan and company to test the blood for HIV. The test was also unreliable. The ban included hemophiliacs and Haitians as well. I would have thought the ban would be gone. Stupid.

My husband is barred because of where he served in the military. Who knows? Better safe then sorry. If they have any concerns, let them error on the side of caution. It’s about the recipients not the donors. Get over yourselves.

I find this so disturbing as someone with a condition that has caused me to need quite a few transfusions (severe chronic anemia). *Thank you to those who donate!!*
So they can give me the blood of some straight person that has had who really knows how many partners but not from a gay man that has been with the same partner for a decade just because he’s gay....??? I just don’t understand the non-logic.

I've had 3 blood transfusions and a plasma transfusion from almost hemorrhaging out after a doctor's carelessness during the delivery process. To all those who donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I can’t donate because I use an inhaler for my asthma. Go figure on that.

I'm not in either group but I still can't donate. I tried several times in the late 80's early 90's and was turned away because my pulse rate goes through the roof when they poke my finger. I asked if they could take it from my arm instead to do their testing but was told that they couldn't.

To me it seems like, today anybody can make a cause, come up with a cause to fight, thanks to Facebook/social media. It is far better i.e. a safer approach to rule out rather than rule in, when it comes to safety, particularly in medical science, where they are lot more unknowns than knowns. No, not anybody can get AIDS. AIDS has distinct and discrete pathways. Primary source of transmission being through blood and other bodily fluids. If gay men have the desire to do philanthropy, why not donate wealth, or volunteer for so many charitable causes, rather than to do something that may create a potential threat to other peoples lives? I for one, depend on regular blood transfusion, and I am thankful that in the US strict guidelines and protocols are followed for the nation's blood supply.

Neither is anyone from the UK. We are not allowed to be organ donors either. I donated blood for years before moving to the USA and now cannot. I have O NEG blood, a universal donor

It shoulf be more specific. Anyone who is sexally active no matter straight or gay can be a risk. This is just bad information
