I like sharing tips with my fellow parents so they'll learn about different strategies in handling children.

I want to share tips and strategies to parents out there who need advice on dealing with children. I like looking for sources that can make life easier for parents.

This could become the best parental leave plan in America (so far).

I can’t believe that the USA doesn’t have a maternity leave in place over 6 months already. How sad that moms have to go back to work so soon after having a baby. I’m very thankful and blessed to be in Canada and have a year off with my son.

I’m happy for anyone that this concerns! Although it should and could be so much better and albeit small, it is still a step to the right direction

Go work Full Time for an Estée Lauder company (MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown to name a few...) moms get 6-8 weeks short term disability after delivery + 20 week (100% pay) + 6 week flexible return to work. Dad’s and adoptive parents also get this same benefit minus the Short Term Disability. I know someone who had 7 wonderful months with her baby girl.

Only 6 months? That's heartbreaking :( My baby is 6 months on the 29th... I can't imagine having to leave her already

Curious how this will apply to larger employers with employees in various states. If it’ll put pressure on them to provide a similar benefit to non-CA employees. One can dream!

In Romania(Europe) we get 126 days ( most of them before birth, but we must keep 42 after birth) and after these Last 42 days finish we get 24 months to stay at home with The baby and we are paid monthly. The money are calculated according to our salary in The Last 12 months before The baby's birth.

For this and so many other reasons, I wish I could move to California. Too bad the cost of living and CRAZY weather/earthquakes make me change my mind every time. I really wish the rest of America would learn from California's progressive ideas.

Need to do what they do in Sweden...both parents are required to take at least 6 months each and an additional 6 months can be taken by either parent, so 18 months in total, and this way there is no employer discrimination because both parents have to take the time. It’s federally funded so no cost to the employer. It’s not right that women have to pick between work and family especially during the delicate postpartum when baby and mother need each other. Next on the agenda is cheaper childcare so women can go back to their careers if they so choose to do so.

This would be amazing. We in the rest of the world don’t know how you manage with limited mat leave and very little vacation time.

Out of 193 countries in the United Nations, only a small handful do not have a national paid parental leave law: New Guinea, Suriname, a few South Pacific island nations and the United States. This is not a new idea. We are just far far behind.

WE HAVE ZERO FEDERAL LEAVE.

Returned last month after about 3 months of unpaid maternity leave. It really hurt us financially despite trying to save for it.

In Greece, we get 2months before our due date +2after, and then an additional 6 months.

After that, if you return to work you can leave 2hrs earlier each day for a year or take that time off as leave (roughly another 3 1/2 months) and returned later on full-time.

I took the later option-went back to work after about 14months.
