“Macron was supposed to be a new, hopeful face” writes Lewis. “Instead, the frustration and violence of the protests suggest, many French people feel he has brought more of the status quo”. With this being said, do you think he'll be able to save his presidency?
What is your honest opinion about this?

I would pay to have Macron as the US president right now.

It’s very interesting that a comment, made in jest, can attract comments about leaving my country. Why are you trolling looking to be upset?
What a load of nonsense!! People are not demanding new policies, they are demanding their sovereignty! They want to be part of the decision making process. They want the right to call a referendum. They want to be able to control their representatives. They want a more direct democracy!!! I guess it is a hard concept to grab for prisoners of her majesty.

He demands are less taxes and (even) more government and job for life that pays more every year without doing a step more. Referendum... like the UK have cake & eat it. Hm. I like the idea but it doesn't lead to coherent policies.

What leads to coherent policies is running a country from the bottom up!

Isn't 19th century France a good example of the dangers of running the country from the bottom up? Isn't 20th century Europe a case in how populism can lead us very awry?

Isn’t Switzerland direct democracy not the magical formula for peace, stability, innovation and prosperity? Because the “populist” movements are all pointing at Switzerland as a role model to follow! Think people think!!!
