You overthink things and they get you low, into a depressive state, so yes, you can think your way into depression(!!). Feeling better is a matter of doing a plethora of things you don't feel doing like going out, calling friends, getting some exercise - all of these will feel hard to do but these will work in your favor in the long run.

That's quite a stretch. I don't think so.

I think so. If you overthink and don't allow your brain to rest, you'll get mentally tired and feel that everything is bad or hopeless.

By the same logic, you should also be able to think yourself out of it but we all know that doesn't work. Nobody truly knows what causes depression. If they do, they would have cured it!

Overthinking can lead to depression, and it's easier said than done to be able to stop yourself from overthinking. But you should try and keep yourself busy by doing activities you love, whether that be alone or with friends. It's not easy but it can work IMO.

Great point. Nobody know why depression happens but I am sure that overthinking will not help. Sometimes medications can help.

For me, depression feels like a thick fog that slowly rolls in and envelops every part of me. It’s so hard to see my way out, and it blocks my vision of a positive future or even a tolerable present. Through many years of treatment, I have worked hard to understand how I feel when depression comes back, and I’ve learned how to take the best care of myself when I feel sick.

I have found it necessary to understand what my thoughts and behaviors are like when I start to spiral downward. This helps me catch myself before I hit the bottom.

Depression is serious. And for some people, like my dad, depression is fatal. Suicidal thoughts are a common symptom of depression. And I know that if and when I have them, they are not to be ignored.

Yes I can but I don't wanna go deeper and really feel it.

Maybe. I think mental health check ups should be part of anybody's annual physical. It's a good way to keep us healthy in body and mind.

Yes, if you keep indulging yourself with negative thoughts I think it's a slippery slope that you might find hard to get out of.

The problem with people is they focus more on body or physical health. We tend to forget that we have to take care of our mental health as well.

IMO, no. You have the power over what you think so you have the power to change your train of thought.
