Changing tables in men’s restrooms

Drop file here to send
Unlike in many women’s restrooms, it’s common to walk into a men’s restroom armed with a diaper bag and a wet child only to discover that there are no diaper-changing stations.

This is what the movement is about! Fathers are stepping out to squat. We will Squat until change comes. Changing Table…

Are there not enough changing tables in men's public bathroom? Or should there be a family toilet that should be installed so mother's or father's with more than one kid can come in so you don't have to leave them alone in the restaurant or in the middle of a public place alone?

Perhaps businessses would be more interested in installing these if someone would come up with a flip down model you needed to stuff with a dollar to make it work.

Wow! With sons and daughters, and granddaughters, what did we use to do? I had never seen changing tables in bathrooms until my granddaughters were older. I don't see how this is a huge problem. LOL, everything doesn't need to be crisis!

This is a great idea!!

I will say my favorite is a unisex single handicap accessible bathroom with a changing table. However I guess that can't happen everywhere.

Huge problem, no. Not in the grand scheme of things. It is, however, *a* problem and one with an easy, low-cost solution for most stores, restaurants, and public areas.

My brother would just take his daughter into the ladies' and ask if it was ok with everyone if he used the table. Nobody ever gave him a problem, but that's probably because he's"all-American" handsome and lily-white.

Tell it, brother. Been there, done that. In men's restrooms that did have changing tables, I often had to remove the cellophane wrapper before I could change my daughter because the table had never been used before. At an IKEA, the sign on the men's room door showing that it had a changing station depicted a woman changing a baby, I guess they couldn't even find a sign showing a man doing it. And it used to kill me when other men in the bathroom would look at me like I was doing something really unpleasant. Dude, you came in here to DEFECATE. Change diapers, show your kids what equality looks like.

I agree! Equality should extend to us too!

I applaud this technique of pointing out the obvious to restaurant owners. I also ask that you start changing the kids in booths, on the floor, etc. to get the change in place faster.

It’s absurd in this day of #Metoo that we’re still stuck in the assumption that only women change dirty diapers. There will not be equal rights for women until there are equal rights for men.

It is wonderful that this man prompted an overdue conversation. Because let's face it: As far as the Family Courts are concerned, and regrettably, society in general, even in 2018 only mothers"matter."

Interesting. This was true for me when my daughter was born, but since my son, I have to say 80-90% of the mens rooms have a changing table.

That's great!

Actually, we'd all be better off with"family" restrooms that I've seen in corridors of airports, office buildings, malls, where there's a lot of family traffic. I have never been in one, but I imagine it's a large room equipped for babies and children under the age of 10, accompanied by a parent of either gender.

I've had to change my granddaughters diaper while kneeling on the floor. I've entered women's restrooms and there were no changing tables in them, some are too small to put a table in the room. I always carried a soft blanket in the diaper bag and put it on the floor to rest the baby. It would be great if there was a room with many changing tables that parents can use but many stores say they lack the space.

In the land down under I haven't seen"family restrooms". However, there are often specific change rooms near the usual gendered toilets.
