I've started a home baking business to provide a gluten-free, grain-free, low sugar cookie that fits into virtually any diet. My mission is to educate the public on the power of food as either health promoting or depleting.

I am a certified dietician-nutritionist, who has been counseling individuals on sustainable weight management and disease prevention for 2 years. My mission is to empower individuals to obtain healthy food relationships and to clearly understand the concept of food as medicine. As a result of a sustained 28 pound weight loss, which began during grad school and from witnessing the yo-yo cycle of weight loss and regain while working at a popular weight loss clinic, I chose to create a functional nutrition practice where what, why and how we eat are all part of the conversations I have with my clients.

Crunch of an apple makes me want to run away

Margot Noel has a condition called misophonia, which literally means"hatred of sound". It can be so disturbing that she has to wear headphones or earplugs to protect herself. Margot's trigger sounds include the crunching of crisps, whispering, clicking noises made with pens, keyboard tapping and one of the worst - knuckle cracking.

I was having dinner with my brother yesterday. I gave him a gum after dinner and he was chewing it like a cow, it was horrendous.

I have to quickly put on my headphones when my husband reaches for an apple. He slaps his mouth every 30 seconds or so after eating chocolate. I literally shake with anger. He thinks it's funny! I nearly threw my pc across the room when I started listening to one of those whispering ASMR things and the woman was clicking her mouth. Grrrr

This is SO true! I can't STAND the sound of people eating food, to the point where I have to ask that person to chew & bite softer, or I have to leave the room. Understanding the condition made things better, at least I understood it and soon discovered my triggers and could cope better. Thanks for the insightful reporting today!

Ugh, I have this and it’s the worst! Mainly eating noises for me and I often resort to running away. Me and my OH stayed in a mega swanky hotel a few months ago and breakfast there was torture as the ambience was like a graveyard in the restaurant. No music, no normal conversation, just people whispering and chewing and slurping.

Always upsets me more when I’m trying to enjoy my own food but can’t block the sound out!

I have hyperacusis after a rare brain event and I’m so sensitive to noise I couldn’t go shopping for a year! Luckily my local Tesco heard my plea and started a weekly ‘Quieter Hour’ for me and people like me with sensory disability.

For me it's whistling. I even have to turn the radio off when a certain advert that features a whistling tradesman comes on.

I can’t visit coffee shops, cinemas or places where multiple conversations take place because I find it overwhelming. It’s weird because loud music doesn’t phase me and I listen to music through my earphones full blast. Libraries and autism quiet times are perfect for me.
