Georgia state lawmaker’s decision to share of her own personal struggles with pregnancy to rebuke the “heartbeat” abortion bill went viral on Saturday.

Last week, state Sen. Jen Jordan (D) delivered a powerful speech in the chamber against the state’s “heartbeat” abortion bill, a legislation that, if signed, would ban abortions after a heartbeat is detected which the state House eventually voted to pass on Friday. The bill was then sent to Gov. Brian Kemp (R) to be signed. Kemp has stated he plans to approve the legislation.

To denounce this severe restriction on abortion procedures, Jordan drew on her own personal experiences to explain the importance of a woman’s right to privacy.https://www.newsweek.com/georgia-state-lawmaker-shares-her-struggles-pregnancy-rebuke-heartbeat-1380917

If the government wants total autonomy of women’s bodies in terms of reproduction then perhaps they should make men responsible for the unwanted pregnancies. Force men to use medical birth control. Force them to take financial responsibility. Why are women burdened so heavily with fingers pointed at them by snarling right to lifers at the clinics door. Women have to carry the weight of life in almost all aspects disproportionately from men. Men don’t have a damn clue. It’s a hard enough choice for already burdened women to make, why demonize them even more. Would men tolerate this if it were their bodies they lost control over? Would they roll over complacently, jeopardizing their careers, relationships, health and anything else you can think of. Abortion is not a comfortable topic but if you are passionate about it perhaps right to lifers should concentrate their efforts on the ‘real’ problem. Birth control for men, and teaching them to keep it in their pants and refrain from telling women to keep their legs closed!!! How dare you!!

This is all about control over their sexual pleasure, never about life, only pleasure for them.

Until a man can push a baby out of his dick, they have NO say what I can or can't do with my body.

Nobody is telling any woman what to do with her body, we are just saying that it's immoral to end a life because its convenient for you. And yes the man should have a say, cause the kid is his as much as it is the mother's

You’re right. No one can really say what you can’t do or can do with your body. However, the body within your body you have no jurisdiction to. That body is a different being that has the same rights. If not then this whole thing is a paradox.

Wow you're stronger than me...so basically you'd totally be cool if you or your sister, or daughter were raped and were legally required to carry and give birth to a rape baby? Kudos.
