I've always been curious: are cases higher, or diagnoses? I know adults who never received a diagnosis as children, who likely would today.

It amazes me how an article of such importance could tell ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that supports the hypothesis presented in its title."Study says" NOTHING. Please stop posting nonsense like this and calling it science.

But you cant name the gene? BS... if you say it is genetic then that means that the subjects had a genetic deformity somewhere in their DNA sequence. So which gene showed the deformity? There is your answer but by saying you haven't identified the gene means you haven't found the deformity so you cant prove its genetics.

And maybe there’s a “condition” that mimics autism. No autism in any family members & 2 kids with it. One improved immensely after stopping vaccines.

That's why so many children with autism have siblings who also have Autism. I have 2 sons with Autism, and it does run in the family.

Unfortunately, far too many will never accept these findings after swallowing hook, line and sinker the dead wrong study of 3-5 children a quack in England published defining what is commonly accepted as the cause. Months later the medical academy published how inaccurate the study was and totally disavowed it but that part got lost in the hype and hysteria that lives on today.

As a mother of a 23 year old son who has autism, I don’t even know how to feel about this. But I am encouraged because of the large sample of 2 million.

It’s certain genes that are more susceptible to react to the exposure to damaging environmental factors (i.e. pollution and/ or vaccines) This doesn’t remove vaccines as the factor triggering certain genes. Learn to understand science. We already knew this since only certain families have higher rates of reaction to environmental exposures such as pollution and vaccines. Similarly to how only certain people are allergic to peanuts, their genes are more susceptible. That’s not to say that an outside factor didn’t help those genes become damaged and cause a reaction.

I have autism, as does my oldest son, and youngest daughter (a different mother then my son and oldest daughter), but my oldest daughter doesn't.
I'd be curious to see a punnit square on this.

Does anyone remember the old"refrigerator mother" hypothesis? Those women were probably undiagnosed and didn't express emotion in a way neurotypicals would understand.

They say"genes" but don't actually mention the genes that are suspect. I fully believe in a genetic component, but there is hardly any actual hard science mentioned in this piece.
