"In one of the early episodes (season 2, ep 1) one of Dany's girls asks what dragons eat. Dany says she doesn't know anything about dragons because her brother didn't know anything about dragons. It's not farfetched that she wouldn't know that only Targaryens can ride them!
I saw that scene as a little treat for the viewers, a sort of"You all know the why, so enjoy this scene, and then we'll all get broody."

They confirmed his lineage last season in the last episode, Sam informing him of it didn't change anything, we knew it before he rode, it wasn't a big deal, but Dragon riding was pretty awesome.

Lol. The about the episode with the directors afterwards talked about exactly this scene and how only a Targaryen can ride a dragon. They planned for it. Don't be so quick to judge.

I don’t think undermined is the right word. I like that it alludes to the idea that he is a Targaryen and that it subtle. This article explains it more which I like, but I also like that this was kind of hidden.

I’m a fan of the books. The first thing I said when Jon got on rhaegel was he shouldn’t be riding him as Jon Snow. It was cute, but not what it should have been.

Rhaegel and Jon had a moment. That moment when Rhaegel looked directly at Jon... it was a look of acceptance and acknowledgment perhaps that he understood Jon was to be his rider and of dragon blood. It was a decent scene but honestly, Dany should have been a bit taken back that Rhaegel allowed that to happen at all.

I thought it was handled well. We, the viewers, know things the characters don't know. The characters can't jump to conclusions just because we know the details.

I personally thought it was great. I don't want to see a big battle during a 1st episode. My favorite line was Sansa telling Tyrion she used to think he was the most clever man she ever met. That will come back to haunt him.

THANK YOU!!! Last season i was like DANNY?! Hello?! You dont think its strange that Drogon sniffed john and then let him touch/pet him and now the dragon basically said come on John lets go for a ride and shes like DoDaDoDa like oh cute me wee dragon likes me boyfriend wth! im sure when they tell her about John she’ll be like oh... ! that makes sense now. LOL

I completely disagree. The ride was obviously witnessed by Bran in a vision, which is why he told Sam that it was time to tell Jon of his ancestry. It makes perfect sense.

I haven't read the books, but I did wonder as I watched the scene, as I did wonder when Tyrion unchained them. The intelligence in the dragon's gaze as he looked at Jon was almost palpable.

Oh it's pretty obvious. Dany is in love. She's not thinking right that moment,"Holy shit, he could be a Targaryen." And the Inside the Episode segment said specifically that it should have clued Jon in, but he's always a little slow on the uptake. He will make the connection and so will she once she knows. And that's how SHE will know it's true. Seven bloody hells. Whoever wrote this knows nothing.
