How to Tell If Someone Is a Toxic Person in 5Mins

You know how damaging it can be to have a toxic person in your workplace, or in your life. Unfortunately, most of them don't come with warning labels the way toxic chemicals do. Many of them seem very likable at first. After all, most toxic people are good manipulators, so getting you to like them is part of their toolkit.
1. They badmouth someone else.
2. They complain.
3. They ask for special treatment.
4. They boast.
5. They put you on the defensive.
6. They make you work to please them.
7. They don't show interest in your concerns.
8. They don't make you feel good.

Actually, this list described in the article is of more overt behaviours quite easily avoided. Deeper toxicity is what’s hidden from view. Beware the wolf in sheep clothing, the most toxic person is quiet and overly attentive listener, is not opinionated, does not tell you about themselves and agrees to your view on life.

They’re so 'normal' looking don’t stick out in the crowd can be quite mellow and attractive, willing to help carry any load for free, asking nothing in return, appear solid and capable give you what you want, at first - until you depend on them and then they slowly extract their price, gradually reducing their gift of kindness while asking more and more of you and demand tolerance for the pain of their displeasure by withholding yours. Narcissism is a very reflective thing.

I’d add being a “contrarian” as a flag - they just like to disagree. You say its warm, they say cold. You say the weather is getting better, they say its awful. I run far and fast from those people. If you can’t be agreeable in small talk, I’m moving on.

actually read the article which most of you didn't or English isn't a solid language for you, but the signs are real and it actually was generous in saying"if several of these"...my flags go up in ANY of those tips in reality and yes, it says basically to be careful. Great advice although I always thought it was obvious. But judging from comments on social media these, I totally understand why we need articles like this. Next up, how to properly wipe yourself at a restaurant after a biobreak. Working on the material ;)

I should have stayed away from this person. He was demanding I buy him drinks and I only just met him? So rude. An alcoholic.
