My boss hangs out with us. It makes him more approachable if we need anything at work.

I think it's okay up to certain extent. I believe there still has to be a wall between them because they won't respect you if they see you out of the office (especially drunk).

I agree! There's a very thin line and it might backfire at you.

Outside of working hours? I think not. There has to be a certain level of professionalism that's maintained

Nah, I wouldn't recommend that. You can't be too buddy-buddy with the boss because then it becomes difficult to differentiate between work and play

Favoritism may be an issue which could lead to resentment. I've seen this happen so many times at work if the boss hangs out with his employees.

I agree that a certain level of respect needs to be maintained even outside the office. But it shouldn't be too rigid as well or it might look like a team meeting rather than a hang out.

Yes, it’s good for the boss and employees. it will make the relationship between the boss and the employees stronger. It would also enhance transparency and honesty between them.

It's okay to hang out with your boss. I don;t see anything wrong with it. An employer-employee relationship needs to be nurtured too.

Well, there are bosses who really want to be with their employees to get to know them better personally. It is not all about work related matter.

I’d say that it can work out. It would make the team feel more solid if rapport is established.

The advantage of having a boss who is friendly enough, a drink of one bottle or two or having lunch or dinner out with other employees is satisfying for the people involve.

Yeah! It's important to make the employees to see you as approachable and know when to have fun.
