The best public policy is made when you are listening to people who are going to be impacted

I currently serve as the senior policy advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. I am a licensed clinical psychologist who facilitates the CEO's involvement in policy issues, government relations and inter-organizational affairs. I also coordinate policy initiatives, serve as the internal point person on policy matters, and oversee the Office of International Affairs. Before attaining this post, I spent eight years as the associate executive director for public interest policy. I was actively involved in the development of federal policy initiatives pertaining to special populations, all while acting as co-director of the internal fellowship initiatives. I previously served as a consultant on federal policy matters, after having held several senior policy positions at the association in the mid-1990s.

If my parents don't approve then that would be stressful! I would want them to love my husband too.

Yes. As a respect to them, asking for their approval before marriage is important to me.

Having my parents approve will make me feel a lot better. At least I know they're behind me a 100%.

If your family truly loves you, they will come around and respect your decision.

I'm not that close to my parents so it wouldn't matter that much to me whether they approve or not.

Yes of course. I have to know that they are happy for me in settling down.

Letting them know about my marriage is a sign of respect. I am old enough to make decisions for myself so their approval is a given fact.

I'd want them to approve so at least my wedding day would be the best day of my life. Nothing to worry about.
