Let Go Of Everything Happens For A Reason

We've colloquialized the notion of there being a reason for everything to the point of absurdity. It's not that"reason" is completely absent from our lives, or that it should be, but that we use it as a crutch for avoiding growth and often look for it in all the wrong places; a higher power, fate, a preordained script for our life, a greater purpose, or some omnipotent force of the universe that knows what's best for us. What if it's none of the above?

Do you think everything happens for reason is just a myth?

Hello Danica thank you for the thread.

I'm of 2 minds with this question. I believe things do happen for a reason however, the reasons are usual down to our own decision or mistakes in our lives. I do believe it's good to have faith in something grander then yourself which doesn't necessarily mean God or a deity but a awareness that something is looking out for you .

The point is to look for a lesson or how to turn something into a positive. It's about having a perspective that you can make the best out of a bad situation. It's not a statement about physics or supernatural, just a matter of how you put your life into perspective.

When someone experiences a tragedy just say some variation of"I am so very sorry." Nobody wants to hear"Everything happens for a reason" at the death of their child for example. Offer to help if it's reasonable. Let them cry. Respect them enough not to tell them that for all intents and purposes they are better off. It's cruel.

My condolences that you don't see the reason.

Things always happen for a reason, it’s only a matter of whether we are strong enough to accept those reasons or not.

So many children, sexually abused...had to keep hearing this phrase"everything happens for a reason"....further continuing the pain.

Look this is just a phrase that helps us try to give meaning to suffering. That's not a bad thing. If you can find meaning in your suffering it goes from being a headstone over you to a mountain under you, which you've climbed.

"Everything happens for a reason, but it's delusional to think you will ever know what those reasons are and their significance." Every cause has an effect.

My belief is a little bit different and totally and completely full of hope! Granted, some of you are so dead on that telling someone in the midst of a crisis or tragedy this, only seems to deepen their pain at the time. So being sensitive is imperative in situations like that

It’s such a sugarcoated way to ultimately say “this will have some kind of result."
