The Houston Rockets finally got rid of the big contract of Ryan Anderson. In exchange, they got a couple of interesting players, including a former lottery pick.

The Rockets have been trying to trade the $20 million a year contract of Ryan Anderson. They finally had a deal with the Phoenix Suns. They got Marquese Chriss and Brandon Knight, two players that have a chance to crack the rotation of the team.

What are your thoughts on the trade? How do you see the Rockets using Chriss and Knight?

I really like the trade overall. It gives Knight and Chriss a shot somewhere else and maybe they improve in another system. Melton is the prize though in the trade.

Ryan has established himself as one of the league’s best shooters and he'd be a great fit for the Rockets offensive system. I can't wait to see how they work as a team.

Chriss provides more athleticism and defensive versatility than Anderson, and can even play some center in small-ball lineups as a different look if Mike D'Antoni so chooses. He's not a perfect player, but it was worth the gamble to unload Anderson's hefty contract.

Marquese Chriss is a more valuable trade piece than Anderson as the Rockets continue to hone their roster in a quest toward dethroning the Golden State Warriors. Great move!

I hate that we'll be losing Melton, but he is unproven. Man, guess we will see what happens next.

I am with you! I don’t like that we HAD to trade Melton. I knew if Ryan was traded it would be for another contract that only had two years left since those expiring contracts are the easiest way to upgrade the team by trading the expiring contracts for a higher caliber player.

Chriss is a nice kid but I think Melton is the better player. I’m honestly disappointed but in Morey I trust.

Fantastic trade!

Knight is expiring and might be great for rest games. Chriss is a total bonehead but has good physical abilities and might be amazing or trainable under the right conditions. I still think Melton might be the best player in the trade. Definitely picking up Melton in fantasy this year.

It may look good on paper but how well do they play as a team is what matters most. You can get the best players but if they don't work well together, still a bust for the team.

I love this trade for the Houston Rockets. Losing De’Anthony Melton hurts a little bit after he flashed two-way potential in the summer league but the kid hadn’t played organized basketball in over a year prior to that.

The return of Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss isn’t a huge return but, it has upside nonetheless. Knight gives the Houston Rockets another bonafide ball-handler behind James Harden and Chris Paul and he even could team up with Eric Gordon for a true second team unit.

If anyone can unlock the potential these two players have, it’s the Rockets. The Rockets run a unique system that highlights the skill sets of these two players already. Both will be given the green light on threes and should shine in the pick and roll.

I've come around on the trade. It's annoying to lose Melton, but Knight cannot possibly be worse than Anderson, and Chriss cannot possibly be as useless here as he was in Phoenix. Screw it!
