No Fault Divorce means: (Source: law.com)
n. divorces (dissolutions) in which neither spouse is required to prove"fault" or marital misconduct on the part of the other. To obtain a divorce a spouse must merely assert incompatibility or irreconcilable differences, meaning the marriage has irretrievably broken down. This means there is no defense to a divorce petition (so a spouse cannot threaten to"fight" a divorce), there is no derogatory testimony, and marital misconduct cannot be used to achieve a division of property favorable to the"innocent" spouse. I agree with this. There should be no blame game anymore.
What's your opinion about this matter?

About time. My ex and I had a no fault divorce in Belgium in 2016. No acrimony and bitterness, no need to point the finger and blame the other. And no expensive lawyers. And guess what? We came out of it still friends.

That's wonderful. I always think these outcomes are far preferable to people who"stick it out" because they think the tolerance is commendable, when in fact everyone else is thinking"nobody wants to see you and your spouse choking one another just enough to slowly die over 40-50 years before people start talking about the importance of oxygen"

Thank you. We also have two kids who have benefited from their parents maintaining a good relationship throughout and since the divorce
The current system encourages animosity by having to have"blame". It helps no-one.
In Japan it only takes 3 seconds to divorce, no fee needed. Same when registering for marriage. Simple as just going to the council and filling a form. If one person/ a couple wants a divorce that should be a good enough reason...Why all the hassle. Time to change already.
Hmmm... no fault divorce was introduced over half a century ago in Canada... sometimes surprising to hear how patriarchal UK still is.

It’s not the UK. The change is for England & Wales. No fault divorces have been the norm in Scotland forever.

Similar here in Australia.
Excellent move. I personally know someone whose husband used the current law to inflict more emotional abuse by refusing to divorce. Good riddance to that possibility in the future.
Commitment means next to nothing for many people, this just acknowledges it.
Quite right. If anything there should be a required cohabitation period BEFORE marriage. smiling face with smiling eyes

Cohabitation is very common now because getting married is so bloody expensive.

We look at tribal traditions as primitive and then dress up in special clothes and give each other pieces of stone and metal to claim ownership over one another.
