Amazing how fast money can be gathered... But when it comes to humanity not even an eye blink.

They should redirect these millions of euros in order to stop the destruction of Amazonia Forest and help people in need, that are sick and homeless and people that struggle everyday to eat, and people who don´t have roofs over their heads, etc, instead or spending it repairing a building. OK it's a great loss of a beautiful Historical temple and I do love ancient buildings and art and all but please stop putting matter over humanity! Everything in it's own place and order! The priorities of Humans are all wrong!

I might be wrong saying this it's was very sad and heartbreaking watching the fire on TV. But Paris has a bigger homeless problem than London and all of a sudden All this money is being made available to rebuild. I don't mean private doners but the French government it also happens in the uk to. I don't get it am I wrong to say this? Also why can't the Catholic Church pay for it the richest religion in the world. Maybe I am wrong I don't know

Reports of hundreds of millions of Euros being promised for the re-building of Nortre Dame ....admirable! But i can't help but have a very quizzical look on my face as i consider the thousands of human beings lacking shelter, food, health care......LOVE!!! .Where are the millions of Euros so desperately needed for their needs...the real needs of humanity!? I will continue to donate my meagre Euros for the benefit of the poor and needy! I am NOT a christian...but I cannot help but wonder what choice the guru Jesus would have made if faced with this choice....which WE ARE!!

It will take a long time to rebuild this beautiful cathedral, but it is worth the effort. It is one of the most iconic cathedrals in the world. Thumbs up for firefighters who risked their lives to save as much of the structure as they only could.

The spire of the cathedral was recreated in the 19th century. It can be rebuilt, but not will be the same again....I always wonder how these beautiful cathedrals were built 800-900 years ago with that technology they owned those days.

It’s all well and good people pledging millions to rebuild this amazing building but the Catholic Church is incredibly rich so should they not use their own money to rebuild it?

A building can be rebuilt but the history needs time to grow and mature , it won’t be the nearly 800 years old Notre Dame , but a 21st century building having its own beauty and grandeur not the mysterious and historic old cathedral !!

To the fire brigades and law enforcement in Paris:
Thank you for risking your lives and your health in battling the fire at Notre Dame. You saved a piece of history that many people, like me, have never seen. As a child I lived through a fire. I am the wife of a law enforcement officer. I have a deep, heartfelt appreciation for every single person who worked to save the cathedral, for the world. Thank you for being, not just public servants in Paris, but saviors of precious art and architecture that is world renowned. May God bless and keep you as you protect us all.

Such a shame. I'm not religous myself but still appreciate the beautiful architecture of such a place. It was stunning given that at the time it was first built, was when the builders who constructed it will have used basic tools and simply excellent craftsmanship. I don't think they can rebuild it's history but I do hope they can save what is left. When York Minster had it's fire in the 80's that was devastated too but now after many years it's a beautiful place once again to visit. I hope this will one day be the same.

Unfortunately they haven't spent the money on its upkeep and allowed it to get into a state before the current work started. Now they'll get funding. Hmmm.
