De La Hoya was speaking at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where he is promoting the much-anticipated middleweight rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin. He claimed to have begun thinking about his potential presidential hopes"many years ago" and voiced confidence that he would be able to tap into significant support.

If he's looking up to Schwarzenegger as inspiration then he's delusional. Celebrities running for office is a huge mistake. They better stay out of politics.

Seriously?! What is he thinking!? What does he know in running a government?!

I don't think people are stupid enough to vote for him. What can he do for the country anyway?

De La Hoya doesn't have any experience in elected office but that didn't stop Donald Trump from winning the 2016 presidential election. Who knows what can possibly happen?

And what has Trump done so far? Americans deserve better.

De La Hoya would undoubtedly have long odds were he to enter the presidential fray, though there's still time for him to do so ahead of the 2020 elections.

Please Oscar you have so many things hidden in the closet that I doubt you want those exposed. Don't let your ego get you in trouble.

Yeah he does have a lot of issues people can throw at him. Better to stay out of politics. It'll get really dirty.

Just because one completely unqualified celebrity did it doesn't mean we want to make it a thing.

What a joke. The most corrupt man in boxing trusted as POTUS?!?! Cross-dressing is his most normal habit.

We've had enough celebrity Presidents. We need serious statespeople who understand the role they are stepping into. Who know how manage foreign relations. And who get that giving your rich friends tax breaks paid for on the backs of the middle-class is immoral.

Why not? Maybe instead of wars we would have the presidents scrap it out face with tears of joy face with tears of joy
