This is indeed true and accurate for me. Menstrual cramps and headache is unbearable during my period. I don't take meds most of the time and just want to stay in bed.
How about you? Are you productive on or before your period?

I’m in bad shape the first 2-3 days of my period and it’s debilitating and just awful. I ultimately told my boss about it and she was surprisingly understanding and shared her past issues with the same thing before she eventually took surgical measures. It was comforting to know I wasn’t alone and other women suffer from the same issue or issues similar. So now I have off the days I need with no issues. I guess I was just lucky to have such an understanding boss that could relate.

Having a female boss makes that easier for sure.

Mine got so bad I would bleed for 6 weeks straight very heavy, 1 week off then start again. Life became impossible. I had a uterine ablation and no more periods ever again.

Not all the time. The woman who was my boss, actually came downstairs to the ladies loo, and had a go at me, after I had just been sick, I was actually a conscientious worker. Most of the time, my painkillers numbed it, but sometimes if I didn't get ibuprofen or have it in some, it just didn't work, I brought it up. I think men are often more understanding, and that is a surprise.
First I missed school days then as an adult I missed work days. Many times I was so embarrassed because colleagues felt I was overreacting.

Agreed. Even though I was being sick at work, my female boss found me in the loo being sick, and had a go at me for not being able to control it. I told her that sometimes the painkillers don't work and I sick it up. The way she spoke to me was disgusting, I hardly ever had sick days.

My parents were worried that as an adult I wouldn't be able to hold down a job due to how bad it was I would loose 5 to 10 pounds during my 8day cycle couldn't even keep water down no school for 1 week every month. Doctors would recommend a hysterectomy to me at age 18. Said have a baby and see if it improves if not have another one and do away with it ie surgery. I'm happy it has improved somewhat after birth control I can at least smell food and not get sick.

I understand your concerns. The recommendations with birth control is also helpful. What helped my sister most after many many years of suffering...was pain med management. So if the pain med you using is for 8 hrs, take the med 1 hr before. This will allow the med to kick in before the pain return. Don't wait for the pain to take your med...which could take upto 1+ hrs to be effective. Best wishes.

A lot of male colleagues think and have thought I was lying, they say, but you look ok what's the problem. Very frustrating. :(
I know very well that it's natural so I respect, dear Sisters not everyone is same.
