What is with our fascination with straws? It's like we are all forever 4 years old. It is possible to drink without one. Why keep creating trash?

Those old straws don’t hold up to a child’s sip that’s why. I know I was that child. These straws will be used by all ages and will prevent many animals from injuries. They need to hold up to high temperatures for shipping and strength for a child’s use. Great idea.

I have 2 problems with this.

First... if it takes 200 years for a plastic straw to biodegrade but it was invented in 1880 the the first strew ever made has not biodegraded till 2080 ..

Second if 30% of sea turtles have plastic straws in them how have they looked inside of all the turtles

This is just a scare tactic. I agree plastic is bad but the volume of plastic in 1 straw is 10% of the value in the cup used to drink from.

Biodegradable product are costly. If given the choice, most small businesses wont make the change to save cost.

Espresso water comes out of a machine anywhere from 180° - 200° and we stop heating milk at 140°-150° (but it rises another 10°-15°) this material would never hold up. It’s a great start! But we need to keep pushing!

Paper straws are harder to recycle because of the wax that keeps them together. When recycled you can’t separate wax and paper immediately.

Back in the day we were like,"save the planet, don't cut down trees, use alternatives like plastic". Now we are like,"save the planet, don't use plastic use plant products". I wonder how long it is going to take to make us do another 180 degrees turn!
