Recent studies show suggests that Protestants, Buddhists and Roman Catholics are happier and more satisfied with their lives, compared with others. Jews, Hindus, Muslims, and the non-religious were in between, while the Orthodox Christians were found to have the lowest happiness and life satisfaction rates.

Do you agree with the recent findings? Why do you think it's so?

I think the happiness comes from the strict discipline imposed upon by your religion. People whose religions are strict probably feels restrained so it affects their happiness.

I say yes to this. Going to service every week and taking to heart the teachings is a good way to live your life. Your faith keeps you grounded.

Improving access to healthcare and supporting their basic financial needs, governments can do much to help boost people’s well-being and life satisfaction. It's not just religion alone that makes someone happy.

I think the article is reflecting with all things being equal that certain religions are far happier than others which I believe.

I am inclined to agree with you there except atheist are not restricted so shouldn't they be the happiest?

It's not necessarily true. I think without any sort of faith, you'll have this feeling of emptiness which is why they are not happier than they should.

"I got so curious especially why the Jews are not the happiest and I found this -

https://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-life-and-religion/228224/daf-yomi-195

I realize then that it will be hard for them to be happier compared to another religion because of all the tragedy that happened to the Jews that came before them."

Most Buddhists are happy because Buddhist practices lead to less suffering and more happiness. As long as they are practicing regularly, a Buddhist will be generally more happy than someone who doesn't do Buddhist practices.

You are so right!!! I would feel sad all the time if I were in their shoes. Their plight was not easy and it can be humbling.

I think you can be happy no matter what your religion is. Happiness is a choice and that goes for all religions.

I don't think happiness is dependent of religion. I think happiness is dependent on whether your needs are met. If you have clothes, food and shelter. The extent of your happiness would depend on how these needs are met. If they exceed your expectations then you would be extremely happier than if it disappointed you.

Well said! Happiness IS a choice and it's a choice you should choose everyday. Consciously erase any bad thoughts and concentrate on being happy and being the best version of you!

I would say that religion requires you to accept this that aren't real, so you live in a world of make- believe, which is way less stressful that reality. You don't have to worry about your responsibilities as a human being if everything just"God's plan" anyway. Ignorance is bliss, at they say
