I think for social investment to work, employees in the company should truly invest – by this I mean, actively participate in the process and progress of the project. It is so easy for CSI initiatives to turn into window dressing, where money is simply spent ‘for the show’ and staff is not actively involved.

I personally think that CSI has an enormous potential and capacity for good. It sets the idea that those with resources need to give back to their communities and ensure that they operate in an ethical and socially responsive way. Bottom line is that this will be good for businesses.

What the hell is CSI?! Haha I had to Google it first! Yes, company should be socially responsible and they need to pay it forward to the community.

I don't why people keep coming up with newer more complex terms. It was previously known as social responsibility and now it's CSI. What's wrong with social responsibility?! It was simple and easily understood. Don't make things more complicated people.

Acronyms sound cooler. BRB, YOLO, TTYL...you know, stuff like that.

Yes, I believe the companies owe it to their communities to give back to them.

I believe there should be some degree of social responsibility but I don't think you need to have a dedicated department for it.

It should be a must for all companies to have CSI programmes. If all companies are doing some social responsibilities, our world would be a better place. Sharing their profits or gains to less fortunate ones through feeding program, livelihood and housing projects or participating in environmental programs won't hurt.

I agree. It's expensive to maintain awhole program or department for it. A company is there to make money after all. It would be more efficient if you help people within the company instead of looking elsewhere to help.

IMO, the company should really invest in their employee's lives instead of strangers because that way, it could develop loyalty and the help is more directed and tangible.
