I study an athlete’s motivation, personality and performance in order to improve their self-efficacy through physiological contexts such as biomechanics and kinesiology.

I have incredible listening skills with expertise in using breathing, relaxation and/or cognitive techniques to instil focus and mental intensity that is necessary for athletes to increase their performance levels.

Sport psychology - inside champion athletes minds

When we look at Olympic sport, sport at the highest level, there are clearly some athletes who always seem to get it right. Sports psychology may play a part in their preparation for their events and may be a reason why they’re successful.

Listen to what Bruce Lee has famously quoted."You should empty your mind, be formless shapeless like warer, you put water into the cup, it becomes the cup you put water into a tea pot it becomes the t pot, now water can flow or it can crash, be water my friend."

I know that even in playing sports at an amateur level I get psyched out times... eg when I serve in tennis and the score is close, I make nervous errors. I can scarcely imagine the mental strength of professionals

To a lot of real athletes these are basics. But it's important to review even the basics once in a while. It's surprising how many people will claim they know this info but never really use it.

Specific goals that lead up to winning. You would be surprised how many people don't make them and more importantly how many people are just not honest with themselves when it comes to really reaching for it.

Difficult to use Phelps in the equation when he gets 10 opportunities an olympics to medal and most others get only one.

The reason why Bolt & Phelps are so successful is because they are tall people. They have long strides in arms and legs which are advantageous in their chosen sport. Nothing to do with psychology - they have genetics superior to normal people in their selected event!
