Every once in awhile, we need that long hug that makes us forget whatever else is happening around us.

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist experienced in working with a wide range of mental health problems and emotional distress. I help people to overcome their difficulties by working together with them and drawing on their own strengths. I offer therapy in a warm, safe and non-judgemental space using individualised evidence-based approaches. Most of my experience has been in working with long standing and complex mental health difficulties. Other experiences include: Clinical lead for a DBT team; working with, children in foster care, helping families with attachment difficulties, and working with children with autism and learning disabilities. I am also passionate about attending to both mind and body when addressing mental health and well-being and if appropriate I incorporate this in therapeutic work.

Anger is a powerful emotion -- it warns us of threat, insult, indignity and harm. But across the world, girls and women are taught that their anger is better left unvoiced, says author Soraya Chemaly. Why is that, and what might we lose in this silence?

Anger has now been implicated in a whole array of illnesses that are casually dismissed as"women's illnesses." Higher rates of chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, disordered eating, mental distress, anxiety, self harm, depression. Anger affects our immune systems, our cardiovascular systems. Some studies even indicate that it affects mortality rates, particularly in black women with cancer.

According to Chemaly, 'The issue is that societies that don't respect women's anger don't respect women. The real danger of our anger isn't that it will break bonds or plates. It's that it exactly shows how seriously we take ourselves, and we expect other people to take us seriously as well. When that happens, chances are very good that women will be able to smile when they want to.'

Women's rage is justified, healthy and a potential catalyst for change. Do you agree?

All emotions are acceptable in all genders. Time for society to get real. Men cry. Women feel anger. Deal with it.

I think we need less divisive rhetoric on what women need and less accusatory rhetoric towards men.

Anger is healthy. Feeling angry about unjust things is normal and human regardless of sex. Allowing anger to run your life or replace more complex harder to deal with emotions is where the problem comes in

To the men whining about"any male anger is labeled as toxic masculinity" and"stop promoting toxic feminity"
That you posted such double speak shows your toxic masculinity and how immature you are.

It’s fine to feel angry if it’s justified...but in order for progress we need to able to discuss it calmly in a way that allows us to more forwards together. Angry conversations are divisive and shut down potentially helpful dialogues.

Anger can be a great motivator. Acting in anger is useless and will never acheive anything. Acknowledging your anger and working thru the situation can be most beneficial.
