The high priest of Chanel made his money from placing women in unhappy competition with their childish selves

I suspect the cat was actually the genius behind his success.

Well fashion is like that. I think that most sensible women and girls would understand from a fairly young age how it all works. The other silly ones might take longer to realise that you can just get ideas from fashion that suit you. But you don’t have to slavishly follow fashion or spend large amounts of money on it. Or be unhappy that you weren’t born beautiful. Beautiful people often have quite unhappy lives themselves. Self esteem issues can hit everyone and we must try to develop inner strength and resilience so that we are not vulnerable.

He made us some pretty dresses...he wasn’t that powerful. And his own battle with personal vanity could hardly be called misogynistic. Give us a break.

Although Lagerfeld seduced many into liking his fashion I agree with the comment about Lagerfeld being a misogynist. His couture demanded perfect, unblemished figures. He also made mockery of the intelligence of women by introducing ridiculous, unnecessary accessories like two bags worn at once (and no, one wasn’t a nappy bag). Thanks for this article which confirms my long held suspicions about this man being a misogynist.

He is dead! Let him rest in peace doesn't matter what he did in this world God will sort that out. Where would your people when he was alive you were letting him control your lives and now you're trying to collect money on his death not a good thing! What it was or wasn't in this lifetime is not important any longer. Let him rest in peace and pray for his soul! :-( didn't know the man don't care that he deserves regardless of what he was in his past life he deserves your prayers.

The people making the dresses are dressmakers , seamstresses, garment workers etc .
The person who designs the clothing is a designer. The writer of the article doesn’t seem to get that. Also the fact that he liked his cat doesn’t bother me.

The fashion industry caters to about 400 wealthy families. Why the rest of the world population take any interest is beyond me.

Woman who can afford made to measure Chanel are not necessarily the ideal (whatever that means) body shape...I don't like the tone of this article especially the obsession about the cat.

Just because your plus size is no reason to have a go at a dead man still warm. What a pity you felt that was anywhere near fair or reasonable Tanya Gold. Bit sad really.
