Tim Ferriss, the guy behind The 4 Hour Work Week, The 4 Hour Body and The 4 Hour Chef, discusses how you can master almost any skill through the process of deconstructing it. He has essentially turned himself into a lab rat for his own experiments in self-improvement. He’s become an expert at everything from dancing the tango to lifting weights, and he’s made a killing telling people about it.

What do you think of this? What do you do to master a skill?

He is not the kind of speaker where you can watch him once and get everything he's saying. Im-possible. This video is so jam packed with information, it' literally like he's speaking another language that you don't understand.

This is a good talk about how to learn new skills quickly. Don't buy the rhetoric of"mastering" the skill, though. Yes, you can learn new things and new skills to a very proficient or advanced degree fairly quickly with the right approach.

True Mastery of any art can only come with continual practice throughout your life. If you get really good at something within in a year, and then you quit, you are not a master of that skill.

People think he's overstating his case. I think he's understating it. Heck, you could probably become top 5% in the world in most skills in 10 hours, because 95% of people do not participate in that activity at all.

He's full of it but, he's capitalizing on an already existent and popular trend. Cutting corners and faking it.

Does this sound eerily similar to Josh Kaufman's TEDx Talks speech about learning anything in 20 hours?

Much talking, feeding false hope with pseudo-science without any science proof to make impression of truth.
