Education remains the key to both economic and political empowerment
As a Professor of Politics and International Affairs, my research concerns three areas of study, to which I deliberately bring interdisciplinary insights: Political economy of development; Regional governance and welfare; and Human rights and development. In my teaching, I often draw examples from developing countries and Latin America in particular. My philosophy of teaching and understanding of education is about empowerment of diverse learners enabling opportunities for critical thinking and encouraging students to respond to socio-economic and political realities that may be quite different from their own. My research has been published in numerous journals, textbooks and teaching guides.
