The United States is ending all funding for the UN's Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA), the US State Department says. It described the organisation, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), as"irredeemably flawed".

UNRWA provides critical services, including education and health care. Chris Gunness, a spokesman for UNRWA expressed"deep regret and disappointment" at the U.S. decision. Gunnes added that UNRWA rejects the assertion by the US that its programs are"irredeemably flawed."

What should the Palestinian government do? Do you agree that the UNRWA is irredeemably flawed?

The Palestinian government should try to work with the US government. At least try to listen to what they have to say, maybe they really meant well. The US have been supporting them for awhile so they should at least hear them out.

What happens then to the millions of people who will be affected by the budget cut? US can't just drop them like that.

Another point that US made is that other countries should also give more aid to UNRWA. US is shouldering 1/3 of the needs of UNRWA. I do think Trump has a point. Other first world countries should be able to provide more than what they are currently giving.

I agree with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comment on this situation. What US did was to rip the band aid that has been there for 70 years. Instead of continuing to treat the Palestinian refugees as refugees, an organization needs to rehabilitate the people so that they can be citizens who give can contribute to society.

Even if the Prime Minister Netanyahu's comment is valid, Trump can't just rip the band aid off like that. There should be planning because millions of lives are at stake. Changes can't happen overnight.

A lot of people think that this is just part of Trump's plan to erase the Palestinian people.

It is probably a good idea to recount the refugees needing the aid from UNRWA. Those refugees who are living in countries that treat them the same as the citizens of those countries should probably not be included in the count anymore. It means they can live normal lives and should be able to work and take care of themselves.

UNRWA has a strong record of providing high-quality education, health and other essential services, often in extremely difficult circumstances, Other countries must step in to help fill the financial gap

This decision is likely to have a devastating impact on the lives of 526,000 children who receive a daily education from UNRWA; 3.5 million sick people who come to our clinics for medical care; 1.7 million food insecure people who receive assistance from us, and tens of thousands of vulnerable women, children and disabled refugees
