Vatican on Amazon's Indigenous Communities

Amazon, the world’s largest rain forest, which is vital for the planet but is suffering from its worst outbreak of fires in years, due in part to an acceleration in deforestation has been in the global spotlight. Pope Francis gathers Catholic Bishops at the Vatican to champion Amazon's isolated and poverty struck indigenous communities. The working document for the “synod”, which mainly brings together bishops from nine Pan-Amazonian countries, denounces in scathing terms social injustices and crimes, including murders, as well as suggesting a Church action plan.

This organisation lost all credibility when it supported and enabled its own predatory clergy ravage and destroy the lives of thousands of innocent children, and it still hasn’t come clean, taken responsibility or made amends.

So they shouldn't do this good thing because they did some other the bad thing?

Somehow you made that up all by yourself, because I never said anything of the sort. I simply highlighted how they have engaged in their own massive share of predatory, destructive behaviour for which they have still not taken any responsibility, nor made any amends, and are still actively engaged in covering up.

I agree, when they stop covering up for their own disgusting lapses then, and only then, can they be taken seriously.
Seize the churches property .. they NEED to face LIQUIDATION in order to pay their debts .... they have zero moral authority, are liars, and steal more than children's innocence .... its OVER and will not be allowed to remain under the tax and sovereign regime they utilise at present to float thru life in a totally unaccountable manner

Well put. It’s pretty obvious this announcement is simply a PR and marketing stunt to try to salvage their damaged brand. They have been and continue to be one of the most harmful global corporations on the planet, yet they claim tax free status. It’s criminal.
Pontificate all you like, Jesus would donate the immeasurable wealth of the church to, I dunno, fixing it.

Obviously you have no idea of the church's contribution to poverty. Health, education and natural disasters.

Nah.... some of us just see the trillions of dollars of accumulated wealth sitting in the Vatican coffers while they hand around the collection plate and contribute relatively piddling amounts to charities.

Whether you like the collections or not but they help the people and they do through the collections of the people and the people in the Catholic Church many of them don't mind helping. And you say billions of dollars. Most of that billions of dollars is in artwork statues etc etc in the Vatican and church property throughout the world. What do you expect them to do so off all the church property then the churches would be no more for people of Catholic faith. You just stop talking and get an education.

Did you know the Catholic Church is not even in the top.5 religions for net worth? Not even in the top 250 richest organisations. Yet the church has spent more on charity then all other charities in history. Just cold factual numbers.
Curious call by the Vatican. This “economic model of predatory and ecocidal development... which kills and plunders, destroys and devastates, expels and discards" is fueled by endless population growth, the promotion of which has been a key factor in the church’s missionary activities among indigenous communities around the world.
If people stopped being encouraged to have so many children, we wouldn’t have such an issue.

The earth has enough resources to sustain population.
I was under the impression that the Pope believes that whatever happens ,can only happen because it's the will of God.

Apparently God gave us free will. At the end of the day whether you believe in myths or other, the buck stops with us.
