This is a tip to follow! Give your mouth something to do to fight a tobacco craving. Chew on sugarless gum or hard candy, or munch on raw carrots, celery, nuts or sunflower seeds — something crunchy and satisfying.

You might be tempted to have just one cigarette to satisfy a tobacco craving. But don't fool yourself into believing that you can stop there. More often than not, having just one leads to another— and you may end up smoking again. I know because I’ve been down that road.

Once you have decided to stop smoking, set a quit date. Pick a day that is not too far in the future (so that you do not change your mind), but which gives you enough time to prepare.

If you want to give up smoking, you need to be prepared to be really serious about it or else, you'll just end up smoking again. It would be a waste of time and energy. I tried so many times but I'm still smoking until now. flushed face

You can start by going 1 cigarette less than the last. You'd make mistakes and fail one day but the important thing is not give up.

You have to do it gradually.

Whenever I have the urge to smoke, I divert my urge into something productive. It's still a process but I haven't had a stick in over 7 weeks.

Great suggestions. Simple, realistic and completely doable! I will give this a try! Thanks!

Do not keep cigarettes on you or anywhere else in case of an emergency. If you do, it means you’re doubting your decision.

I tried to quit gradually. You could try to reduce your cigarette intake slowly so you get used to not smoking. So far, it helped me kick the habit.
