What should a church do with its offerings?

What does the Bible say about Christian tithing? Should a Christian tithe?
Well, many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches giving is over-emphasized. At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the biblical exhortations about making offerings to the Lord. Tithing/giving is intended to be a joy and a blessing. Sadly, that is sometimes not the case in the church today. https://www.gotquestions.org/tithing-Christian.html

Every church receives some type of tithes or offerings. Be it via “passing the plate” or setting a box in the back of the sanctuary or some other collection method, a church needs funds to operate. How the church uses those funds is important, as the church has responsibilities to its members, to its surrounding community, and to God

What do you believe the church should do with the tithes and offerings it receives?

Generally speaking, some of the money should go to operating expenses such as paying church staff and paying for the church building or meeting place. Some money is allocated for specific ministries in the church that serve members or the community

Jesus told His followers to"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. …" (Matthew 28:19–20). Funding missionaries and outreach programs is appropriate. It is also appropriate to give money toward specific ministries in the church that help with spiritual growth

I strongly believe some of the offerings should be set aside for outreach programs, the church should have a responsibility towards the community

A church is a part of a neighborhood, a community, and has a responsibility to those who live and work near it.

Think of a church as a business. The business they are in is the “spiritual” business. To operate, they must have income. A tithe is a Biblical and church term used to define what someone should give and the commonly accepted amount is 10%, based on on scripture

To decide how and where to spend offerings requires wisdom, and James 1:5 tells us to ask God for wisdom and He will grant it. An attractive building and grounds is fine, but are those expenditures advancing the gospel?

The problem with tithing is that it is not an all encompassing payment. There are offerings, special offerings, love offerings, mission offerings, mission trips, disaster relief funds, youth fundraisers, roof funds, building funds, etc., which are asked for in addition to your tithes.

My point exactly. If we're making additional offerings towards special projects.. what exactly is happening to our weekly tithes and offerings?????

Tithes are used to pay for church expenses, including facilities, salaries, utilities, supplies, etc. Churches generally provide members with periodic reports of receipts and expenses

I say just contact your church and ask to see the financial disclosure.

Theoretically, a portion should go to the diocese, although this amount is often set aside as the diocesan or bishop’s appeal. If a parish fails to meet their goal, the reminder is taken out of the collection.

It all depends on the church and the people in charge.

Sadly, there are churches where the preacher(s) receive an out sized income that may be in the form of direct salary or expensive luxuries.
