My three year old today: “you can get sliced by knives. Or eaten by a Utahraptor. Or get too old. There are many ways to die.”

My mother had died and my kids learned about burial vs cremation. My daughter told me gleefully one day that she’d decided on a great plan. After I die, she’d have half of me cremated and half of me buried. She was maybe 7. I was stunned and ended up laughing hysterically. Kids are trying to figure this all out. And they’ve got no filter.
It can be entertaining to say the least.

Because we are special primates, aware of our own mortality. My 4 yr old said""I woke up and thought I was dead!"" I asked""why?"" And he said""because we all die some day.""
Your logic is infallible, friend.

Wow. This is the article I needed right now. My 4 year old asks constant questions about it, and I thought it was because I had explained something wrong or too harshly. Now can someone write an article about why my 4 YO asks constant questions about zombies?

My friends little girl always tucks in her animals, I say “oh are they taking a nap right now?”, she says “no they’re dead” and then Auntie is dead

My 4 year old twins were curious about death. I asked them If they understood what a Soul was, since I am a believer in the afterlife and wanted to introduce the concept. My son said ‘it’s when you have no bones’. So simple and eloquent I felt no need to expound.

Don't even need to read the article- ran out of free ones. This is what kids do: how old are you? 76. That is really old. - yes. Are you going to die soon? Don't plan on it. May I have a glass of milk? Sure.

My son asked me when I was going to die and told me that after I’m under the ground he’d be able to get a gerbil. I think he was around 4 then.

Ah yes the death years. One of my nephews was sad for me that my father had died. He was 4. He asked if he could build me a new dad. All four my daughters went through the death phase. One daughter had me remove a book about Martin Luther King Jr. from the bookshelf in her room as it was scaring her because of how he died.

When my son was around four he asked"what happens when someone dies?" I said"I don't know but it must be great because nobody has ever come back!"
He never asked me about death again.
