The cleanup drew 633 divers from across the United States, along with Europe and South America, who gathered at the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier on Saturday, June 15. They broke a previous record set in 2015 by 614 divers in the Red Sea in Egypt. The treasure hunt retrieved 9,000 items of marine debris, including 3,200 pounds of fishing gear, according to ocean conservation group called Project AWARE, one of many event sponsors (which also included PADI, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors).

The city of Deerfield Beach, Florida, is handling recycling and disposal of the debris, based on what was found, which included lead sinkers, a boat ladder and a barbell, according to CNN.

Seems like this person just like to break the record and get on t.v 1 day outta the year. Still cool but come on how about start a trend and have it go Nation Wide not just one state but this is the world we live in today, but at least someone did something for one beach it's kinda a start.

This record should continually be broken ... but, then again, we should need to HAVE to break these records.

It's very good, what they're doing and achieving. But, must it be like that...?Never, in the 50-70's ,no one had to go and do cleaning of our natural scource.(WATER) I feel disappointed of our human behaviors. Let's stop now! there are more generations to follow. I pray! Amen!
