The Zimbabwe government has come under fire after it emerged that it spent thousands of dollars on importing legal wigs from the UK for local judges, with critics lambasting the purchase as a colonial hang-up and a waste of money.

The Zimbabwe Independent newspaper reported that the country's Judiciary Service Commission placed an order for 64 horse-hair wigs from Stanley Ley Legal Outfitters in London, at a cost of £1,850 ($2,428) per wig and totaling £118,400 ($155,000).
Wigs from the outfitter range in price from £457.50 ($599) for a standard barrister's wig, to £2,495.83 ($3,265) for a judge's ceremonial wig.https://edition.cnn.com/2019/04/05/africa/zimbabwe-judges-wigs-gbr-intl-scli/index.html?utm_source=fbCNN&utm_medium=social&utm_content=2019-04-06T01%3A03%3A04&utm_term=link&fbclid=IwAR1PVCfOCOIYBOnEi519x5fYC6WDKsXslIEKc4SJ5gTbY2n-4eAI2DIzUAY

There is nothing wrong in following a tradition as long as it's not harming anyone or the resources of the country.

Do you think it's necessary to buy and wear those wigs?

Such a colonialized thing to do. Maybe you could judge--without wigs? I know it's CRAAAAAZY, but it works in the U.S.!

That's racism.

You fought the hardest for your freedom from the same oppressors that wore these garments that persecuted your fathers, mothers and children for fighting for their right to be treated as a human being and their right to be free. So WHY are you mimicking your oppressors?

The truth. If anything, they should honor their history wearing traditional wardrobe.

Spend your future your energy and your passion worrying about the past that you cannot change or spend your time making sure you never oppress anyone and look forward to your reward in heaven one day. Which makes more sense? Stop wasting your life hating. We all have things we’d like to change but this obsession of black people thinking they can punish people is a total waste of time and helps no one.

Clothes are just symbolic. When you’re wearing something whose meaning you don’t know it doesn’t harm like when you’re mentally enslaved. Africa’s problems go beyond wearing Latin robes and wigs. Our problem is ourselves. We have allowed the foreigner control us decades after chasing him away. He didn’t deplete our resources fully, but we can’t manage the Little left. He has ensured that we are divided so that he can continue ruling us through puppets. All African leaders currently have investments in the West. In exchange they give out our minerals etc.

Those wigs were ancient Egyptian, they are an African wear. The real issue here is the amount of money spent on a misplaced priority, not some old"oppression" bs.

I'm not happy that my government is spending MILLIONS of dollars so our orange child"president" can play golf every weekend.

How does it feel to be consumed by the actions and words of one person (Trump)? He has some kind of special power over leftists. It’s breath taking to watch the mastery.

Most presidents played golf. That's not unusual. The rest of them played in more secured locations and didn't profit personally though.
